GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS FOR PLANTING COCONUT SEEDLINGS
1. Dig 2*2ft deep hole
2. Arrange one layer of dried coconut husk in the hole with the concave side facing up
3. Fill the hole with loose sand up to about 0.5ft
4. Followed by filling the hole with 0.5ft of organic manure
5. And then fill the final layer with dugged out soil of about 0.5ft
6. Dip the coconut seed/pod in chlorpyriose/dusban dissolved in water (0.5ml/litre) for about 3mins.
7. Dig the center of the hole per the size of the seed/pod and then plant the seedling
8. Please make sure the collar region/stalk is just at the level of the soil.
9. Please compact the soil around the stalk of the seedling after making sure it is erect/upright.
10. Irrigate slowly from top of the plant with 30cm bucket for the plant to settle
11. Please continue irrigation after every 3 days if there is no rainfall.
12. Apply NPK and Ammonia after 3months of planting (50g each)
13. Spray leaves and stalk with prophylactic chorpyriose after 4months of planting and once to twice in every other year
14. For good results, fertilizer application should be repeated once in every year in increasing dosages of 50g with a total maximum dosage of 400g
NB: fertilization and chemigation are recommended to be done in the afternoons during the raining season period
